Greenville, South Carolina is well-known for being a family-friendly destination. From museums that inspire kids to wonderful family-friendly restaurants to eat and science centers to help kids learn and appreciate the world, there are plenty of things to explore with your kids here. Greenville is South Carolina’s upstate oasis when it comes to family fun activities. Located just 4 hours west of Charleston, SC, this charming city is where you want to spend time with your kids this summer. Here are family-friendly attractions in Greenville, SC.

Greenville Zoo

Your family vacation in this town should probably start at the Greenville Zoo where you’ll get to explore more than three hundred different types of animal life. The zoo is perfect for kids. All you need to do is arrive here early so you can be right at the zoo when the animals wake up, eat, and play together. There’s a toddler playground where your kids can play and have some fun. The playground also has benches where you can rest your weary feet.

Falls Park on the Reedy River

Travel to Greenville in summer and get to spend time with your kids on the lush green park while watching some live performances of Shakespeare. Let’s just say Falls Park is Greenville’s gem. Your trip to this town won’t be complete if you don’t visit this site.

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate

The museum features a play area for toddlers as well as a giant climbing tire tower where kids can have fun. The first thing your kids will notice as soon as you enter into this museum is a large indoor climbing structure that they’ll enjoy towering about you. Remember a successful vacation of the trip is possible when your kids have fun and are happy. You don’t want to travel to a destination where your children won’t have fun. Other areas to explore on this site include the Garage Rock, the Reedy River bend, the Toddler Lily Pond, and more. If your kids love creative arts, there’s an area (known as Off the Wall) where they’ll have it all. Another exciting area is the Future Park, a traveling exhibit that demonstrates the ever-changing technological world and how it can be interactively used along a child’s drawing exercises.

Mice on Main

You can’t come to Greenville and fail to or miss Mice on Main. What a better way to have fun with your kids that to have them look for small mouse sculptures. You just need to find all eight. You can decide to work your way from the Westin Poinsett Hotel or start from the Hyatt Hotel. Of course, you’ll find them. But, you have to hunt for them.

The Performing Arts

If you’re looking for a place where you can have your kids entertained in Greenville, the South Carolina Children’s Theater is the place to be (scchidrenstheater.org). The theater has been around for decades and offers classes to kids who have interest in performing dramatic arts. You can choose to either visit one of its facilities in downtown Greenville or the other stage on Augusta Street. Your time here won’t go to waste.

See the Stars at Roper Mountain Science Center

Located on a sixty two-acre piece of land, the Roper Mountain Science Center features science labs, a butterfly garden, a planetarium and observatory, and nature trails. If you want to view the night sky through a telescope, coming here during the Starry Night, Friday will pay off. You can also see the stars on the second Saturday of every month. Don’t be surprised when this becomes your son’s favorite place to go. The hands-on science areas will also serve your kids well.
